(chassis/engine/gearbox), 'KOY 2720' is believed to be an ex-Earls Court Motor Show car and was chosen as the subject of a model by Corgi Toys. The (fourth) owner purchased the E-Type in 2000 from a work colleague, Anthony Kingham. Mr Kingham had bought the car in 1992 from his uncle Paul Webb, the well known dealer and 6-Type amateur racer. Paul Webb and Mick Harris had restored the car in the early 1980s, after which it was Paul Webb's personal transport for ten years.
Between December 2010 and November 2011 the E-type was rebuilt to an enhanced specification at a total cost of E60,387 excluding VAT (bodywork £21,887, mechanical £38,500) with a 12 month warranty commencing 15th November 2011 on all work. The outcome is a very fast road car, precise to drive with tight suspension and very good brakes.
Restoration of the bodywork was entrusted to IDL Ltd of St Leonards-on-Sea, who stripped it to bare metal and replaced the foot-well end panels, floor pans, inner strengthening brackets and inner/outer sills. Other works included replacing the fuel tank, engine sub-frames, windscreen and hood; re-chroming the front and rear bumpers; re-trimming the interior and renewing the carpets; repainting and re-assembly.
E-Type UK Ltd of Tonbridge undertook the mechanical refurbishment, rebuilding the engine to 'fast road' specification in the process. Work carried out included gas-flowing the cylinder head and installing re-profiled camshafts, new bronze valve guides, new reshaped valves and valve seats and oversize tappets. All the cylinder head components were manufactured by marque specialist, Rob Beere.
Other noteworthy features include a new oil pump; new electronic ignition; Pertronix distributor and coil; Magnecor ignition leads complete with separator; and a complete new Haywood & Scott sports exhaust system with manifold. The triple SU carburettors have been reconditioned to show standard.
On the chassis side: the front suspension was stripped, re-plated and built up using Polybushes, Gaz adjustable shock absorbers and new springs, upper/lower ball joints, track rod ends, AP brake disc/callipers and braided brake pipes.
The rear suspension was rebuilt also, the inner and outer bearings being replaced and new radius arms, Gaz adjustable shock absorbers and springs, vented discs, easy bleed brake pipe kit, AP S3 brakes, splined hubs and wheel bearings fitted. New limited-slip plates went into the rebuilt differential together with new a crown wheel/pinion; new bearings; new rear suspension cradle mounts; and all new nuts and bolts.
Other parts renewed include the brake servo and master cylinder; steering rack and mounts; and wiring loom (front/rear). The alloy radiator is a new item with integral fan, while the MWS triple-laced wire wheels are shod with Falken 225/60x15 tyres. Described by the private vendor as 'immaculate, this comprehensively upgraded E-Type roadster is offered with restoration invoices, old-style logbook, current MoT and Swansea VS registration document.
Simply put; as a drivers E type one would struggle to find better anywhere. Driivng the car is a sublime experience with way more power then when it was built & absolutley lovely suspension as a reult of the various upgrades. An estate sale, This car is very very competitively priced when compared to other lesser cars at more money. A massive history file detailing servicing from new comes with the car.

I am the 4th owner of the car having purchased it in 2000 from a work colleague, Anthony Kingham. Mr Kingham had purchased the car in 1992 from his uncle Paul Webb, the well known dealer and amateur E-Type racer. Paul Webb and Mick Harris had restored the car in the early 80's after which it had been Paul Webb's personal car for 10 years.
The car is alleged to have been a 1966 Earls court motor show car (not verified) and there is a corgi model of it as pictured.
